Kawhi Leonard voted best defender in the NBA

The wing of the San Antonio Spurs Kawhi Leonard was elected for the second consecutive year the best defender in the NBA, announced the American basketball league on Monday.

Leonard was elected by a jury of 130 journalists and received 547 points, ahead of Draymond Green (Golden State, 421 pts) and Hassan Whiteside (Miami, 83 pts).

Leonard, 24, finished the regular season with averages of 21.2 points, 6.8 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game.

"This season, I made great effort to be aggressive from the start. We work very defense, we are very focused on that during matches and show this season," he celebrated the wing.

The San Antonio Spurs, who held the best regular season in their history (67 wins and 15 losses), have the best defense in the competition.

Leonard is the first player from the pivot Dwight Howard to win the best defender award for two consecutive years. Howard, at the time the player Orlando Magic, received the award three times follow him, in 2009, 2010 and 2011.
