Arsenal record Swiss Granit Xhaka for the next five seasons
Arsenal announced Wednesday the signing of Swiss international midfielder Granit Xhaka , from Borussia Monchengladbach for the next five seasons.
Xhaka, 23, arrives in London for about 35 million pounds (46 million euros) with weekly estimated 110,000 pounds (144,000 euros) contract.
"I am very proud to sign for a club like Arsenal," said the Swiss, who leaves Mönchengladbach captain, in a statement to the website of the English club.
"I'm looking forward to London, to represent this special team and play in the Premier League . I will give everything to help Arsenal to win titles and make the fans are happy , " he added.
Xhaka arrived in the British capital last week, passed the medical examination and clothing posed with Arsenal for next season in the sports city of Colney, north of London.
"We take watching for a long time and believe it is a player who will give great quality to our squad. We wish Granit a good Euro 2016 with Switzerland and we look forward to welcoming Arsenal , " said the coach 'gunner', French Arsene Wenger .
"Granit is a very exciting young player with a lot of experience in the Champions League and the Bundesliga , " Wenger said.
Xhaka, international 41 times with the national team of Switzerland, with which contest the European Championship next summer (June 10-July 10), came to Mönchengladbach in 2012 from the Basel, club in which it formed.
The Swiss midfielder, author of six goals in 108 matches in the Bundesliga, has become the first signing of Arsenal ahead of the 2016/2017 season.
