Conmebol supports Infantino for FIFA presidency

The leaders of the CONMEBOL support to "block" the Swiss Gianni Infantino, current general secretary of UEFA, for the presidency of FIFA, said on Thursday the president of Conmebol, Juan Ángel Napout.
"We will vote as a block, is decided. We've talked with Gianni and define it," said the Paraguayan Juan Ángel Napout the Brazilian press after a meeting of the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) in Rio de Janeiro.
Infantino last of the seven candidates for the post of outgoing Joseph Blatter, met earlier this month with Napout and other leaders at the headquarters of the South American Football Confederation (Conmebol) in Asunción.
Amid corruption scandal in FIFA Infantino defends the need to renew the institution and undertakes to strengthen the poorest countries on the planet channeling resources of the world football matrix for social development projects.
The Swiss leader assured during his visit to Asuncion that South America will maintain the four direct places and one in the playoffs for the World Cup.
Infantino entered the fray after UEFA president Michel Platini, be temporarily suspended by the FIFA Ethics Committee to receive a controversial payment of 1.8 million euros in 2011, Joseph Blatter, for a work completed in 2002.
Recently, Infantino said that Platini is finally allowed to participate in the election, he will give up his candidacy.
Seven candidates are in the running to chair FIFA after the election of February 26: Infantino, Sheikh Salman Bahrain, the South African Sexawla Tokyo, Jordanian Prince Ali, the French Jerome Champagne, the Liberian Musa Bility and Platini.
