The legendary Romanian gymnast Nadia Comaneci, whose feat with his 10 in the Montreal Olympics marks 40 years, said she is still very much the memory of that deed, which made him the first gymnast to perform a perfect performance.
Comaneci, who won throughout his career a total of nine Olympic medals, five gold, in the quotations from Montreal 1976 and Moscow 1980, remembers four decades after a few moments that remain intact in memory.
"I can feel clearly the moment was walking down the hall and noise had" recalls Comaneci.
"I can feel that. I remember who was doing the floor exercise while I was in the bars. Today I remember all those times," she says.
Comaneci now runs a gymnastics school in Oklahoma (United States) with her husband, coach and US champion Bart Conner, and says she is still excited about the sport that gave him worldwide fame.
"I practice when nobody is in the gym," she told Laureus.com as a member of the Laureus Foundation.
Gymnastics star believes the United States will be the team to beat at the Games in Rio.
"Today in the US women's gymnastics is number one. They have probably around 4 million children practicing gymnastics every year," she says.
