British swimmer Adam Peaty won the gold medal and the world record in the 100 breaststroke Olympic Games in Rio after setting a new world record distance when stopping the clock at 57.13 seconds.
Peaty became the only man able to lose 58 seconds, a stratospheric brand despite his 21 years. Silver fell to South African Cameron van der Burgh (58.69) and the bronze went to American hands Cody Miller (58.87).
In addition, Adam Peaty is the first Briton to win an Olympic swimming title in 28 years. Whipped world record in Rio is the second bankruptcy in the Games after he won Saturday in the semifinals of the same discipline (57.55).
