Argentine tennis player Juan Martin del Potro, who on Sunday will face world number 1, Novak Djokovic, got stuck in an elevator of the Olympic Village by a power outage and was rescued by the handball team.
"Thus began his day @delpotrojuan: 40 minutes locked in an elevator of the Olympic village by a power outage," reported journalist Jorge Viale Twitter, accompanying the message with a photo of tandilense sitting on the floor of the elevator.
"No cell signal, he was rescued by members of the Gladiators, the Argentina team of handball," he added in another tweet.
Information confirmed by one of the team handball, Federico Pizarro, also through social networking, with photo included with the player. "The power went out and got someone was locked ,, the gladiators to rescue @delpotrojuan".
The Argentina press, much given to puns, soon to take advantage of the story: "Nole turn off the light," he headlined the daily Olé, referring to the name with which is known to Djokovic.
