British cyclist Lizzie Armitstead will compete in the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro after winning the appeal filed before the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) for not attending three doping tests in one year.
"I've always been a clean athlete (...) I am very pleased that the TAS has accepted my position after giving detailed information showing my situation," said Armitstead in a statement.
Armitstead faced an automatic suspension, filed July 11, by the UKAD (UK Anti-Doping) by not three controls in one year. Finally, the CAS ruled that the procedures were not followed correctly during a test and annulled the suspension.
The cyclist, 27, won the silver medal in the road race in London 2012 and is a favorite to win gold in the same event in Rio.
