US overwhelms Nigeria in their final preparation for Rio-2016

US basketball team, known as the 'Dream Team' NBA on Monday defeated Nigeria by 110-66 in the last friendly match in preparation towards the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro-2016.

Best for the US team were Carmelo Anthony with 19 points; Klay Thompson, 17; Kevin Durant, with 14; DeMar DeRozan with 13; and DeAndre Jordan and DeMarcus Cousins, with 10 each.

The victory allowed the team to the bars and stars complete their tour of Olympic preparation with an unbeaten 5-0 record, beating Argentina , China (twice), Venezuela and Nigeria, by an average margin of 43 goals in each .

It was the first time the two teams played since 2 August 2012, when the Americans won by a whopping 156-73.

At that time, Anthony set a team record with 37 cartons.

The victory raised the record as coach Mike Krzyzewski's team Uncle Sam with a record of 80-1, besides having achieved the 68th consecutive victory (including exhibition games) since 2006.

In the group stage in Rio, the United States is in Group A along with China, Australia , Venezuela, France and Serbia, while in Group B will face Brazil , Argentina, Nigeria, Lithuania , Spain and Croatia.

The Dream Team will open its Olympic schedule Saturday against the quintet of China.
