Alonso: "The seventh position is above expectations"
The Spanish Fernando Alonso (McLaren-Honda) said after the Singapore Grand Prix won the seventh "is above expectations."
"The start was very good and I gained a few positions to fifth. Then you have to wait for something to happen in front to have any chance of being very close to the podium. But it was the first Singapore in which nothing happens before nor have bothered those behind, "he said.
"Outside of the two Mercedes, the two Ferrari and the two Red Bull have been the first, the best of the rest, when I think we had no means the fourth fastest car here," he added.
Alonso said: "The team did a good strategy and went well because the seventh is certainly above expectations."
Sainz: "It's frustrating that every failure the day that everything has to go right"
The Spanish Carlos Sainz (Toro Rosso), fourteenth in the Grand Prix of Singapore, said after the race that is frustrating , "all fail the day you have to get everything right."
Sainz does not believe the incident at the start has been the factor which determined his career: "It is true that we broke a part of the right side that made us lose downforce, but then got to have a good pace."
"What happened is that after the first stop I got into traffic and then had a breakdown that made me go with 600 horses, so you can imagine the frustration is that everything fails the day you have to get everything right" he added.
"So I could not overtake and could not defend myself. A two-hour race with 650 hp that has the engine without the battery makes you lose much back," Sainz said that, however, said that "even with the car broken could have finished in the points. "
