New arrests of leaders of FIFA in Switzerland morning, according to NYT

The Swiss authorities took place early Thursday a new series of arrests of leaders of the highest governing body of world football, FIFA, in a similar operation to that already it took place in May , as published in the American newspaper The New York Times today.

According to information from the New York newspaper, which was also the first to publish the operation May, it's more than a dozen arrests linked to corruption investigation that the US Justice held open against FIFA.

At the moment it is not known who the detainees, although the newspaper did not specify that each agency president, Sepp Blatter, and several other leaders of world football in Central and South America is.

At least some of the arrests took place in the luxury hotel Baur au Lac in Zurich, the same in which the operation took place in May, and agreed that the Swiss police at 06.00 local time (05.00 GMT) through a door back.

One of those responsible for the hotel then told the visitors that were at the reception had to leave the building because it was producing "an extreme situation".

The arrests were directed against high current and past charges that FIFA is accused of "fraud, money laundering and fraud" and there were taking advantage of the meeting of leaders of the organization in Zurich this week.

The US has filed charges of corruption against a total of eighteen people, of whom seven were already arrested in late May.

US sought the extradition of them all. Two volunteered to be transferred, while the rest rejected this option and their cases are pending.

For its part, the Swiss Justice makes a parallel investigation, involving Blatter, currently suspended for ninety days, and the president of UEFA, Michel Platini , for a payment of two million dollars that he received the first in 2011.
