Namibian Jonas Junius was arrested for an alleged attempted sexual assault in the Olympic Village

The boxer Namibia Jonas Junius was arrested by Brazilian police on suspicion of attempted sexual abuse of a waitress in the Olympic Village, said Monday the police, which is the second case of detention of a competitor of the Games by a complaint of sexual violence in the official seat of the athletes.

The waitress accused Junius, 22, had tried to kiss her by force and then offer money in exchange for sex. The employee boxer managed to escape and called for help, police said.

The woman filed a complaint against the fighter in the police station in the area of ​​Barra da Tijuca, where the Olympic Village, and the agents decided to apprehend the suspect, who was scheduled to debut at the Games this week.

Junius, grade Light Welter, was standard-bearer of the delegation of his country at the opening ceremony of the Games.

This was the second such case in Rio. Last week, the Moroccan boxer Saada Hassan was arrested on suspicion of sexual abuse of two waitresses, also in the Olympic Village.
